Youssef Al Sebaie .. The Knight of Romance

Today Friday 18 February 2011 is the 33rd anniversary of Youssef Al-Sebaie's assassination.

He was an army officer, however he wrote the most famous & most beautiful romantic novels in the Arabic literature.

Many of his novels were transferred to movies, such as: I'm going away, between the ruins (remember me), a thing in my life, Nadia, my heart was returned back, love street and so on.

He got married of his cousin (Dawlat Taha Al-Sebaie) after long love story since the childhood. They had a son (Ismail) and a daughter (Bessa).

On 18 February 1978, two Arabs shot him in the lobby of Nicosia Hilton hotel in Cyprus because he visited Israel with the president Anwar El Sadat on 19 November 1977.

His assassination caused Egyptian raid on Larnaca International Airport and breakoff of relations between Egypt and Cyprus for many years.
